Not lax on immigration: Canada minister counters Jaishankar on arrests

Canada's Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, has countered remarks made by India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, over the arrests of three Indians in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder case. Criticised by Jaishankar for allowing in people with criminal links, Miller said Canada wasn't "lax on immigration".

39.92% polling till 1 pm, crude bomb thrown near booth in Bengal

Lok Sabha Election Phase 3 Voting Live Updates: An approximate 39.92% polling was recorded till 1 pm, after six hours of polling for the third phase of Lok Sabha polls. Voting in 93 constituencies spread over 11 states and Union Territories began at 7 am today, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah among the early voters. Sporadic incidents of violence marred the third phase of polls in four constituencies in West Bengal as the Trinamool, BJP and Congress workers clashed with each other in various parts of Murshidabad and Jangipur seats. Among the bigwigs for the polls are Union ministers Shah (Gandhinagar), Jyotiraditya Scindia (Guna), Mansukh Mandaviya (Porbandar), Parshottam Rupala (Rajkot), Pralhad Joshi (Dharwad) and SP Singh Baghel (Agra). Polling is being held in 11 seats in Maharashtra, 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the remaining 14 of the 28 in Karnataka, seven in Chhattisgarh, five in Bihar, four each in Assam and West Bengal, and all two in Goa. Polling is also underway in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (2 seats) and nine seats in Madhya Pradesh, including Betul where elections were deferred.
